Hey guys, and welcome to my NYCC blog series! This first part will contain all the slutty pics I took and my written account of the Con.

The pictures (What you actually care about):

The story (What you don't give two shits about):

New York Comic Con. The place where nerds from every genre, every age, and every state come together to wait on lines to wait on lines. From shopping, to creeping, to being creeped on, to being in a flashmob, there seems to always be something to do at the Con.

The day began with my best friend Alazne and I buying tickets for the ferry to cross the Hudson River and be in New York City by ourselves for the first time! LE GASP! Luckily, before there was even the slightest chance of us getting lost or falling into a manhole, a few of Alazne's friends arrived at the ferry a few minutes later. We got on the boat along with some other cosplayers and once we arrived in the city, we followed the giant mass of Star Wars, Batman, and Minecraft cosplayers to our destination: the Jacob Javits Center.

We waited in a huge ass walking line, pretending to be enthralled with the architecture of the center as we were herded like cows to a slaughter towards the GREEN entrance. Where the GREEN signs were pointing at. Held by workers wearing GREEN. At that point I honestly thought they wanted me to go to the PURPLE entrance. By the time we got to where the line split off into the GREEN or yellow entrances, it apparently didn't even matter anymore which way you went in. According to a guy that jumped onto a platform on the street, "You can go both ways. I know I do! ;) "

After hearing some guy screaming about the meaning of Homestuck, we were finally inside! I began my obsessive manhunt of good cosplayers to photograph for this blog and for the memories whilst Alazne and her friends attempted to get all their other friends to rendezvous in the area. Once I made enough people feel awkward and the mess of meeting up with people was settled, we took a quick first venture into the Dealer's Room. And the place was a claustrophobe's worst nightmare. Ahhh, I felt home. 5 minutes later the happy feelings dissipated into annoyance at the mob of people, and we decided to split up into smaller groups in order to do what we each wanted. We promptly left the Dealer's Room, and made our way to the Artist Alley.

By then we had been asked several times if people could take our picture to which I always replied, ".........umYEAHSURE!" As we walked towards the Artist Alley, we stopped several times to take some more photos. During this, however, I had my first experience with creeper shots. I saw at least 3 people take a picture of me and my friends from a distance away without even asking. Granted, they were all girls and probably oggling at our Asian friend, but it was fucking weird experience nonetheless.

The Artist Alley had lots of goodies, my favorite thing I purchased being my little Tali cardboard standee thingy. My friends saw their old Spanish teacher signing autographs, some ex wrestler named Tito Santana which prompted us to laugh loudly at the people that would actually want an autograph of a public school Spanish teacher. Some time later we left the Javits Center to get some lunch at a food cart outside, where some middle aged drug dealer-y looking guy wanted to buy one of our passes off of us. After slowly walking away and eating our food, we went back inside. Which was utter chaos. We literally had to make a Conga line in order to escape the mob.

I then had my first experience with another thing: a group cosplay photoshoot. This giant group of people that were from the same thing we were cosplaying as practically handcuffed us to take pictures with them. We followed them to a large atrium where the shoot would take place. In all seriousness, it was actually pretty fun, and we had a large turnout of photographers. The only part I'm still trying to wash away from my mind was when they made me stand in front of all these people with cameras by myself. The other cosplayers felt bad for me, and SOMEHOW thought giving me a group hug would ease the pain. Worst experience of my life.

After that, we decided to finally try the Dealer's Room again. As we entered, I had my first encounter with the Slenderman. Joking around that he would take one of us, I quickly noticed that one of our friends actually DID go missing. We freaked for a few moments until he quickly reappeared behind some fat guy. Curse you, Slendy! The Dealer's Room had some pretty sweet stuff, and I went crazy in there.

Then it was autograph time. Earlier in the day I had wanted to go to the Dark Horse Comics booth in order to get the writer of Mass Effect 3, the artist of the ME graphic novels, and the voice of Ashley Williams to sign my copy of ME3. However...things didn't go my way, and I missed the signing. Therefore, I was determined to get Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies) to sign something for me. I arrive with Alazne at his autograph table, only to discover that the person in front of me was the last person he would sign, even though he had an hour left. Awesome!

So I sprinted back to the Dealer's Room to try to get Jessica Chobot's autograph, and security tells me that the line is already closed because of the amount of perverts people vying for her autograph and picture. Ironically, I was literally standing in front of Chobot for a good 10 seconds, and she even looked up at me for a few moments. So that counts, right? No? I must say, she's prettier in person.

Annoyed that I didn't get ANY autographs, I stomped back into the Dealer's Room, wanting to drown out my sorrows by wasting more money on figurines and video games. I got bored after another hour or so, and 7PM was nearing. The Dealer's Room was now closed. At this point most of Alazne's friends left either for Penn Station or the Waterway ferries. Alazne and I were there until 10PM, when my dad would pick us up. So we slummed around the Artist Alley again some more, creeped on more people for photos, took pictures with Slendy and Kirby, and got lemonade and vanilla scones from the Starbucks inside. Then the best thing of the day happened.

Alazne and I were randomly venturing around the place trying to find something to do when all of a sudden we happened upon that large atrium room we took the group photos in earlier in the day. There was a group of people standing around a large boombox, and crowds of other people sitting on benches or standing and chatting. All of a sudden, the boombox began playing "Gangnam Style", and the people standing around it began dancing to it. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH A FLASH MOB. As people began realizing what was going on, everybody slowly joined in. I filmed the first verse and chorus, and then dragged Alazne to the back row with me to dance. I can't dance for shit, but I felt like fucking Chris Brown for those 2 minutes! Afterwards, the people in charge of the flash mob said it would be on Youtube soon. I'll be sure to make a blog of it when it's finally online.

By 9, the place was pretty empty, with maybe 1/7 of the people still hanging around. Alazne and I decided to run around, film ourselves being weird, playing music and dancing to more music. The most exciting things going on by this point was a Deadpool on skateboard, and people attempting to climb on the bars of the Center. We literally just kept walking the length of the place, back and forth, taking some last photos, until we were finally kicked out at 10 for closing time. After trying to figure out where my dad was for 10 minutes on the phone, only to realize we were in the same place the whole time, we left New York, and headed for a diner to eat.

It was a pretty damn good day. :P

Part 2 of my NYCC Adventures will be all the videos I took, including part of that Gangnam Style flashmob I was talking about. And Part 3 will be all the goodies I bought.
